Why Do My LED Lights Flicker When Dimmed?
LED flicker when dimming is usually caused by one of several issues: (1) Incompatible dimmer — the dimmer's minimum load is too high for the low-wattage LED, or the dimming protocol doesn't match (TRIAC dimmer with ELV driver). (2) Poor-quality LED driver with inadequate dimming circuitry. (3) Overloaded dimmer — too many fixtures on one dimmer circuit. (4) Loose wiring or poor connections. (5) Low-quality PWM dimming at frequencies below 1kHz. To fix: first verify dimmer-driver compatibility using the manufacturer's list; try a dimmer with lower minimum load (e.g., LED-specific dimmer); ensure total load is within the dimmer's range; check all wiring connections; and if using 0-10V, verify the control wire is not run parallel to power cables (interference). If flicker persists, replace the driver or dimmer with a higher-quality unit.
