LED datasheets specify color temperature in several ways. The nominal CCT (e.g., 5000K) gives the target color. A CCT range (e.g., 4700K-5300K) shows the acceptable variation. Binning information tells you how tightly colors are sorted: '3-step SDCM' or '3-step MacAdam' means very tight consistency, while '5-step' or '7-step' means wider variation. Chromaticity coordinates (x, y) provide the exact color point on the CIE 1931 chart. Some datasheets also list ANSI bin codes (e.g., '7B' for 5000K). For professional projects, look for SDCM ≤3, a clear CCT range, and ideally LM-80 color stability data. If the datasheet only says '5000K' without binning info, ask the supplier for clarification.
